The market town of Honition in south east Devon is located along the old Roman road that once ran from Exeter north to Lincoln. It is perhaps best known for its lace, the making of which was introduced by Flemish immigrants fleeing from religious persecution in their homeland at the time of Queen Elizabeth the First. The town also become noted for pottery making - and was further ‘put on the map’ when Queen Victoria’s wedding dress was made there.
