A traditional fishermen’s cozy cottage with fire effect wood burner situated in the estuary-side village of Appledore in North Devon, with shops, bistros, restaurants and the village quay (perfect for crabbing) all just a short walk away. This property is located in the fishing village of Appledore, which has retained the traditional atmosphere of a slower pace of life of times gone by. In the summer months, a ferry runs across the Torridge estuary to the village of Instow where there is a pretty beach, as well as a yacht club and yet more eateries and pubs. Just two miles away, visitors will find the impressive two-mile wide sandy beach at Westward Ho!, which is a fantastic place for families, beach-lovers, and surfers alike. Skern Lodge, an activity centre providing a wide range of outdoor activities is on the outskirts of the village. For families The Big Sheep and Milky Way are nearby and the renowned cobbled fishing village of Clovelly is well worth a visit. Or there is shopping outlet if some shopping therapy is required.

This three-storey property offers welcoming accommodation with some attractive period features, not least the exposed beams and the imposing stone fireplace in the lounge/diner which now contains a wood burner-effect fire. To one side of the room, there is a dining table seating four/five, whilst in the sitting area there are comfortable sofas from which to enjoy the Smart TV and DVD. The galley-style kitchen, meanwhile, is equipped with an oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine. On the first floor of the cottage, guests will find two of the three bedrooms, the first of these being a king-size room which boasts attractive estuary views and its own TV. The second bedroom on this floor is a single room, whilst a twin bedroom can be found on the second floor of the property, which is accessed via steep cottage-style stairs leading directly into the room. The top floor twin room is a real hideaway with super views across the estuary and with TV and Nintendo WII available to entertain those kids! The bathroom, which is on the first floor, offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

Outside, there is a patio courtyard garden to the rear of the property, with a table and chairs providing a great space to enjoy al fresco drinks. There is also a handy WC located off the courtyard also containing a small freezer.

  • 3 bedrooms: 1 king-size, 1 single, and 1 twin

A really lovely cottage, plenty of space for us and our two dogs, very comfy beds and everything very clean. It was in a fantastic location right in the town albeit on a steep hill which was not a problem for us but could be for some, parking not a problem but could be in high season I expect, plenty of bars and live music which we like thoroughly Read morerecommend The Champ pub which is just at the bottom of the street, fab atmosphere and you can take your fish and chips in there from next door! Second time staying in the cottage. Easily accommodates 4 adults and 2 dogs. Parking is easily available on the street further up the road. Failing that a weekly pass for the car park at the bottom of the road is available.
