The bustling harbour is a wonderful place to relax and watch the boats go by, and is home to a range of restaurants including one belonging to the world-renowned artist Damien Hirst which serves freshly-caught fish. Further afield are some lovely cliff-top walks along the North Devon coastline with its large sandy beaches and sheltered coves. There are many historic places to visit such as the National Trust Arlington Court, or take a drive onto Exmoor National Park for some fantastic walks and rugged scenery. Attractions in the area included Watermouth Castle, Combe Martin and Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Chambercombe Manor and boat trips to Lundy Island.

This reverse-level accommodation has been well-equipped to ensure you holiday is like a home away from home. On the ground floor you will find two super-king-size rooms each with a TV, and both with their own en-suite shower rooms, WC and basin. The beds can be made into twins on request. There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer found on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a third bedroom with a king size bed plus an iPod dock and access onto the rooftop terrace. All three bedrooms also offer large wardrobes with plenty of space to store your belongings. The kitchen has an electric double oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and a dishwasher. The lounge/diner offers a table for dining together, a sofabed to sit back and relax on as you watch the TV/DVD, and access to the roof terrace. There is also a bathroom location on the first floor with bath, separate shower and WC.

Outside you will have use of the delightful roof terrace with far reaching sea views and outdoor seating. This is a great spot for dining al fresco or relaxing in the evening sun with a glass of wine. Children must be supervised at all times on the roof terrace.

Large well appointed house. Very narrow access for cars. Very steep walk from seafront/harbour level if mobility an issue. Enjoyed our stay.

Excellent location, even if its a bit tight getting the car into the garage. An easy stroll into town and the harbour but be prepared for a steep walk back. Very comfortable, large bedrooms and plenty of space for everyone in the lounge and on the terrace. Very nice, relaxing base to come back to after days out visiting local attractions.

This was our second visit to Hayward House, it worked so well for our family of 6 adults and a toddler. The house is in a great location for all the amenities of Ilfracombe. It was lovely to sit outside on the sun terrace and see the sea views in the distance. It was good to have the garage as well, we managed to get both out cars in there with no Read moreproblem. Fab holiday home for a family. Great having two ensuite bedrooms downstairs. Ensuites have brilliant showers. Sun terrace leading from upstairs bedroom was a bonus. Close to all amenities.

The cottage is excellent very comfortable and fantastic how ever the location can be challenging if you have mobility and physical issues or a problem with walking as the location is a very steep walk . Access when driving very narrow lane and challenging parking& access to road ,the garage will take 2 reasonable sized cars takes but takes some manRead moreoeuvres you cannot park outside as difficult for vehicles to pass and neighbours opposite access there garage so not recommended , Hide

In the ground floor double bedroom, there is an overpowering smell of damp. We had to have the roof window open all the time to try and reduce the smell. Of the two in the room, only one of them worked, and when it rained the sensor would close the window and the smell of damp would fill the room., it was unpleasant. This is in a perfect location for exploring Ilfracombe and the surrounding areas. The house was ideal for 5 adult's. Its about a 5 minute walk to the harbour, all downhill, so coming back does take longer, its quite steep in parts! If you want to eat out in the evenings we recommend you book.

We stayed at Hayward House for a week in July. The house is in a great location, only a 5 minute walk to the shops and seafront, with lovely views from the terrace. The house was very clean and is well equipped with everything we needed for the 6 of us and a baby. Having the garage for parking was extremely handy too. Quite luxurious nothing missed out . A little cold in downstairs bedrooms , house was very modern and up to date , the only thing might bother people is the hill climb to house we managed it with baby in pushchair but was hard going
