Noted as the highest village on Dartmoor, Princetown is home to the Dartmoor National Parks High Moorland Visitor Centre – housed in what was once the Duchy Hotel – a hostelry made famous to fans of the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as the place at which the inspiration came to him to write ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’.
