This property is accessed via a single-track road, which brings guests to the wonderfully rural property, where it is one-of-two on the owner’s farmland. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park, guests can leave the property and immediately join the miles of scenic walks, cycle routes and bridleways. In complete contrast to Dartmoor, the elegant seaside resorts of the English Riviera, with its warm micro-climate, azure seas, and sandy beaches, is just twenty miles. Other attractions in the area include Paignton Zoo, the Living Coasts Aquarium in Torquay, and the ancient network of caves at Kents Cavern.

The front door of this property opens onto an unusual hallway with exposed stone floors, beamed ceiling, and whitewashed walls. From here, a door leads to the property’s cosy flag-stoned lounge, which has as its focal point, a stunning inglenook fireplace, which now houses the warming wood burner. Armchairs and a sofa give guests a comfortable place to unwind here, perhaps planning the next day’s sightseeing or may be watching a film on the Smart TV. The dining room, which features the same well-maintained flagstone floor, has a dining table seating six. The property’s kitchen, though modestly-sized is, nevertheless, well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Stone stairs lead to the property’s three bedrooms on the first floor. The first of these is one of two twin rooms, whilst the other two rooms are both cosy and comfortable. The bathroom has a ¾ sized bath with handheld shower and WC.

Outside, to the rear of the garden, is a private enclosed lawn with garden furniture.

Absolutely wonderful. The cottage had everything required for a home from home feel. The grounds were lovely and very well kept. Parking was easy and the view of the sky at night from the garden was breathtaking . We did wonder if the farmhouse would be cold but the opposite was true, it was very comfortable, warm & well equipped. We all enjoyed our stay very much.

This place is beautiful. lower Cator is the perfect base to explore the moors. So much to see and do. The garden of the long house is large and secure. If you have dogs its the place to stay. The long house has so much character.

Lovely cottage in a lovely area of Dartmoor. Lovely area tucked up in the moors away from it all (especially fireworks) yet there Id good access to all surrounding areas, including the coast. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting the tranquility this area offers.

We loved this property for the two of us and our dogs, owners hugely helpful and friendly. Great location for hiking and seeing the best of Dartmoor , remote enough to truly get away from the worlds nonsense for a while. Lovely garden which is really safe. No phone signal at all but good WiFi in the cottage. One bathroom for six would be difficult Read moreand we found the water pressure upstairs to be quite low which was mildly frustrating however the cottage is warm and well equipped Hide

The cottage is a real gem. The location is wonderful and peaceful but easy to get out on to the moor or down to the sea. Very comfy and clean. Kitchen is small but adequate.

The cottage is an interesting and attractive listed stone building in a remote and very quiet location. Do allow plenty of time to negotiate the narrow local roads! The large garden is perfect for sipping cider on a summer evening. The cottage is full of character and comfortable, and everything you need is there. If you insist on working the wifi Read moresupports Zoom and Teams calls, but, like much of the moor, there is no mobile phone coverage. Hide

Quiet and remote, which is great if you want to get away from everything. However due to the location (as expected) there is no mobile signal and you need to navigate a number of single tack roads to venture out and about. Single bathroom with a 3/4 size bath and small kitchen not ideal for a family of five; the rest of the house / garden was greatRead more. Dog friendly but pets are not allowed upstairs, worth a mention if your dog is used to free run of the house Hide

A very beautiful old cottage! Beautiful landscape is all around. Hiking could start directly at the gate. We've regularly seen Dartmoor ponies in the same village, only 100 metres away. This is a lovely secluded cottage, very much in the wilds of Dartmoor - ideal to getaway from "everything" and ideal for ramblers, nature lovers or just to explore the area. The cottage is well equipped and is definitely "Quaint & Quirky". Our only advice would be "mind your head" as the beams, doors etc are very low and maybe the addition of a sepRead morearate shower would be a great improvement. The tap/shower head over the bath is a bit awkward if you're tall. It was a pleasure to stay there. Hide
