Smithincott Stables, offering peace and quiet on the edge of the Black Down hills in the valley of the River Culm, are two single bedroom apartments sleeping two each converted from a 17th century stable. Smithincott Barton Holiday Cottage is a the self-contained wing of Smithincott Barton Farm. SITUATION Smithincott Stables are located just outside the village of Uffculme which offers two local grocery shops, a public house which serves food at lunchtime and in the evenings for reasonable prices. There is also another Pub 7 or 8 minutes drive from Smithincott which also serves food. Uffculme church has the largest rood screen in Devon. Although situated in the peace and quiet of the countryside we are only 3 miles from Junction 28 of the M5. Swallow Stable is on the first floor and is accessed by a flight of stairs. The apartments are situated in the grounds of Smithincott Barton farm and each has a small courtyard garden with table and chairs. There is also off-road parking. All bed linen, towels and heating are included in the price. THINGS TO DO The immediate locality is well served with places of interest, National Trust houses, gardens, historic towns, craft workshops and farms open to the public. There are also numerous attractions for children and families. Nearby you can take a horse-drawn canal barge trip or a ride on a narrow gauge railway or you may just like to relax in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Both Crealy Park and the Gateway to the Jurassic Coast are half an hour to 45 minutes away. The nearby city of Exeter is 20 minutes away on the M5, where you can visit many historical and scenic locations as well as making the most of the city’s newly revamped Princesshay, full of eateries and shops to tempt you.
