SITUATION
Tala Forge was once a blacksmith's workshop, is attached to Tala Park,
a small traditional Cornish farmhouse. Both buildings are Grade II listed,
dating from the 1600s and being full of character, with exposed beams
and period features. From the windows of Tala Forge there are panoramic
views across rolling countryside to the tors of Bodmin Moor. Tala Park
and Forge are in a very secluded position down a leafy lane with no
near neighbours on the edge of the small village of Boyton near the
Cornwall / Devon border. Tala Forge has only recently been converted
into an attractive and comfortable holiday home. It is ideal for a couple
but will sleep up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children.

THINGS TO DO
The surrounding countryside is very peaceful, beautiful and unspoilt,
making it ideal for a relaxing holiday. Tala Forge makes an excellent
starting point for touring North Cornwall, North Devon, the Tamar Valley
area and the two fascinating granite moors (Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor).
The Eden project is 40 miles away. The nearest shops and supermarkets
are in the ancient town of Launceston (6m) with its Norman castle, sporting
and leisure facilities, golf course etc. The beautiful North Cornwall
Heritage Coast is not far away, with the nearest large sandy beach being
at Widemouth Bay (11m). You can search for King Arthur at Tintagel,
explore the lovely village of Boscastle or dine out on a terrace next
to the sea at Trebarwith Strand. There is much to see and do.
The resort town of Bude with shopping, sandy surfing beaches, leisure
pool and music / entertainment venues is 13 miles. For those who would
like to try surfing, boards and wet suits are for hire and tuition is
available at various beaches on the north coast. The Devon market town
of Holsworthy (9m) is particularly unspoilt and on the Wednesday market
day is bustling with rural characters, small shops and stalls.
If you would rather not cook the popular "Countryman" Inn (2m) offers
excellent food and drink at very reasonable prices. Fishing of various
types is available at a number of locations. For horse riders the local
equestrian centre is ½m and their mounts can regularly be heard "clip
clopping" past Tala Forge at various times through the day. They provide
riding for all abilities and have an indoor school and off road course.
Wildlife abounds in the area and visitors to the grounds and old barns
of Tala Park include many birds such as swallows, buzzards, ravens,
woodpeckers, and there are night time visits from owls, deer, foxes
and badgers. On the Tala Water river ¼m below wild otters are sometimes
sighted, but they are very secretive so to guarantee a view visit the
Tamar Otter Sanctuary (3m). If you are interested in very unusual wild
animals we can direct you to locations on Bodmin Moor where there have
been sightings of the infamous "Bodmin Beasts", now officially accepted
to be the descendants of escaped large cats who have bred in the wild
and not figments of the imagination! (All distances are approximate.)
