Why visit Beer?
Beer is the perfect place to recharge the batteries, with its shingle beach lined with fishing boats, cliff walks and amazing views from Jubilee Gardens. It’s also ideal for families, with attractions such as the Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy Adventure Park and the livelier seaside resort of Seaton nearby.
Things to do in Beer:
Beer’s easy access to the South West Coast Path means it’s a walker’s paradise - Seaton is less than half an hour away, while Branscombe and even Lyme Regis can be reached on foot. For those who’d rather relax, the shingle beach is a lovely spot with chalk cliffs all around and fishing boats heading in from the sea.
Why stay in a Beer cottage?
Staying in a Beer holiday cottage places you in an excellent position for exploring both coast and countryside, and provides plenty of choice. Fishermen’s cottages, coastal holiday homes and spacious farmhouses all offer a wonderful place to stay while you discover East Devon’s many attractions.
Three must see things in Beer:
- Take a tour underground of the Beer Quarry Caves, home to stone used to build Roman villas and notable cathedrals
- A short walk along the coast east will bring you to Seaton, or try the walk west to Branscombe, with amazing views along the way
- Watch the Beer luggers, with their striking red sails, come and go during the annual Beer Regatta in August
