A quiet getaway in the heart of the Devon countryside on a working, 400 acre dairy farm, close to Sidmouth beach.

Guests can expect a warm welcome at Burscombe Farm, a delightful holiday home which occupies one wing of the owner's traditional farmhouse. It’s the kind of place that will remind guests of childhood fun and carefree pleasures, as much of the farm’s 400 acres of land are available for guests to explore; the owners are very welcoming of guests who wish to get to know the animals and find out more about farming life. All of this space may feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it is by no means remote, with the seaside town of Sidmouth lying just 3 miles away.

Inside there’s a cosy, homely atmosphere, with low and uneven ceilings lending the house the authentic charm of a period country home. Cosy and inviting, curl up in the large open-plan lounge/diner with a DVD. On sunny days, head outside where there is plenty of space to relax and play in the enclosed private garden, with the BBQ sizzling in the background. There are also shared gardens for guests to enjoy, where you’ll find children’s play equipment including a trampoline and swings.

When it comes to quiet holiday retreats, Burscombe Farm is in an idyllic location surrounded by rolling fields and pretty countryside, perfect for enjoying leisurely walks with a picnic. Just 3 miles south of the farm, the resort of Sidmouth boasts several beaches including the popular Jacob’s Ladder Beach which is backed by red stone cliffs and which offers a wide expanse of sand at low tide. Right in the centre of town, the stretch of beach known as Port Royal is the place to go for those who want to have a go at water sports, including kayaking, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Idyllic location in the Devon countryside, peace and quiet in a lovely cottage, warm welcome from the owners on a working dairy farm. My son loved helping in the milking parlour and cuddling the young calves, watching the tractors working and walking around the fields. This cottage is not recommended for people with disabilities as stairs are very steep also indoor steps require some negotiation.

A really idyllic location and the cottage is surprisingly spacious. Not ideal for those that are 6 foot and over but only a few doorways to navigate and this all added to the charm. Well worth noting that the location is great in terms of ease of access from South East as its not too far into Devon and also easy to get to the coastline which is maxRead more 10 mins drive vs other cottages we have stayed at that were 30 / 40 mins + Hide

A lovely cottage on a dairy farm. The owners were great and showed us round the farm and our youngest saw first hand where our milk comes from. An idyllic setting with great walks all around. In easy driving distance of Sidmouth, Seaton and Exeter. Our dog Billy loved it!

Very quiet location only the farmyard animals to list to. Track to the farm a bit daunting but taken slowly is ok, as we have been to this property before we were aware. Host very friendly and will assist where possible. Ideal for Sidmouth, sidbury and Seaton, Children would love it.
