Nestling amidst stunning lakes and an abundance of wildlife, this lovely lodge provides great base from which to explore North Devon and Cornwall and is just a short drive from the coast.

Escape to beautiful North Devon with this delightful lodge set within a 320-acre farm. Surrounded by fishing lakes, woodland walks and an abundance of wildlife, this is a fantastic choice for anglers, walkers and canine companions. Spend your days walking the South West Coast Path, exploring the nearby fishing villages or soaking up the sun on sandy beaches before returning to this charming bolthole for a glass of wine on the balcony.

Inside, this double-storey lodge is homely, open-plan and spacious, with large double doors and windows opening onto the balcony outside. Cook up a storm in the kitchen area while chatting to fellow guests, before dining together at the farmhouse table nearby. At the end of a tiring day on foot, sink into the plump sofa and settle in for an evening of games or TV with the family. Afterwards, climb the pine staircase to the first-floor bedrooms, all of which are cosy and inviting with sloping ceilings and colourful soft furnishings. Outside, a balcony provides wonderful views across the lake by day and fantastic stargazing opportunities by night.

Set in the heart of the Devon countryside and surrounded by woodland, lakes and wetland, this is a walker’s paradise. Visit the unique fishing village of Clovelly (2 miles) with its steep cobbled streets and quaint harbour, or venture to the seaside town of Bude for sand, surf and shops. The pretty coastal villages of Appledore (12 miles) and Instow (13 miles) offer a variety of fish restaurants, bars and delicatessens, while The Milky Way (1 mile) and The Big Sheep (8.5 miles) are great for family days out.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Some of the cottages are in need or due for some renovation, be careful of external wet stairs. Fishing near to the cottage was ideal, and the fish I caught were in good condition. Staff very friendly and helpful and the site is easily accessible and near to local villages etc. Very disappointing that a lot of the restaurants and pubs locally are oRead morenly working to a four day week, and some do not open until 4pm! Really lovely place to have a break. Right in nature and very peaceful and quiet. Claire and her team are always on hand to assist you should you need them and nothing is too much trouble. We will be returning in the future.

The Pheasant lodge was perfect for our stay (4 adults & 2 dogs), with a further bedroom with 2 small beds for children if required. The area is so peaceful, clean and well kept and very close to Clovelly and a short drive to all other local tourist attractions (beaches) . The lodge itself is spacious and has all the things you need for a very comfoRead morertable stay. The lodge is probably due for some minor work around the veranda/decking area, but it does add to the rustic scene (not a criticism). Hide

The Lodge was great. Location next to the lake was superb literally a couple of paces from the waters edge. Only slight niggle was the shower which looked liked an all singing all dancing steam cabinet was a little lacking in the power Dept, perhaps a pump would improve the flow. Claire the proprietor was very welcoming and approachable and made usRead more welcome. All in all a very good property in beautiful surroundings. Hide
