Single-storey wooden lodge situated on a small leisure complex in the rural parish of Highampton in mid-Devon, within easy reach of some of Devon and Cornwall’s top attractions.

Surrounded by miles of farmland, country villages and meadows, this delightful, single-storey wooden lodge is a great place to relax and soak up the tranquillity of rural Devon. Its close proximity to the Devon/Cornwall border, offers you the opportunity to discover the many treasures that both counties have to offer. If you’d rather stay closer to home, you can enjoy the indoor heated pool, the children’s play area or the fishing lake shared by the 13 properties in this peaceful complex.

The thoughtful layout of this complex means each property has its own private entrance and outdoor space in addition to the shared outdoor areas. Sitting on your private, enclosed decked area with a glass of wine, enjoying glimpses of the fishing lake and Dartmoor in the distance is what holidays are for. Heading inside, the property is tastefully decorated to create an inviting, comfortable space. The kitchen has a small dining table and the lounge is spacious, making it the perfect place to unwind at the end of a busy day. The accommodation is on one level and accessed down a sloping driveway.

The gorgeous, rugged scenery of Dartmoor National Park is 13 miles away from the cottage, with the unmissable Lydford Gorge 21 miles. There are many historic, market towns nearby, including Hatherleigh (5 miles), Holsworthy (9 miles), Okehampton (12 miles) and Bideford (18 miles). The National Trust’s Castle Drogo, an excellent example of a modern 1920s castle and its grounds, is a 23-mile trip. Drive 11 miles to visit the beautiful RHS Rosemoor. If youve got kids then no I wouldnt recommend. Kids cant live without Wi-fi and what was offered was useless.

Very nice property, clean and tidy, although it was very exposed to the bad weather. It was nice to control my own heating, but I had to remember to leave the hot water on each night, otherwise it was cold in the morning. It was a bit remote for shops, petrol etc, but I managed.

The essential food items left in the cottage as a welcome pack were appreciated. The pool room was heated but water was cold.
