Bijou lodge-style property, enjoying a tranquil location on the owner’s sheep farm in rural South Devon, within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park.

Escape to South Devon and indulge in a romantic break for two in this attractive bijou-style lodge. Set on a family-run sheep farm with spectacular views of the countryside, you are just 4.5 miles away from the majestic Dartmoor National Park and 8 miles away from the beautiful village of Bigbury-on-Sea. With two traditional pubs less than a mile away, round off a hard day’s adventuring with an evening stroll, a pint of local ale and a hearty meal.

Elegant and contemporary, the open-plan design and light-filled space makes Hazelwood Lodge a truly special location. Being single-level with a wet room, it is accessible and comfortable. Spend cosy evenings dining for two either inside the cosy warmth of the lodge or outside with a BBQ and views of the South Hams. On chillier evenings, there’s no greater joy than lighting the wood burner and snuggling on the sofa to watch the embers glow. When it is time for bed, draw the curtain partition of the bedroom and sink into the heavenly crisp bedding. The lodge is dog-friendly but take care when outside by the open pond.

By day, explore the craggy landscape of Dartmoor on foot, by bike or even on horseback to discover woodland, wetlands and majestic tors. Embrace a slower pace exploring Bigbury-on-Sea, complete with a sea tractor ride to Burgh Island, or spread out on the golden sands at Bantham Beach (11.5 miles) where there’s a dog-friendly area. Venture out by car and you’ll find gems such as Newton Ferrers, an enchanting village recorded in the Domesday Book 12 miles away. Travel a little further afield to visit the city of Plymouth, which is steeped in history and just an 18.5-mile drive.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Fantastic few days away in this lovely cottage. We had a very warm welcome on arrival and the cottage was really clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting and watching the lambs in the field in front of us with a glass of wine! Lovely comfortable cottage for a couple - very bright and sunny and felt very homely. It was cool in the evenings so we lit the woodburner which made it very cosy. Excellent location for exploring the South Hams. We had our dog with us - & everything worked out well - ate in the Anchor Inn local pub - great staff & food made us very welcome.

A lovely cottage in tranquil surroundings but within easy driving distance to civilisation if you want it. We went to escape the fireworks (for our dog) and it was perfect for this. The cottage is clean, well equipped and very cosy with the wood burner. Would recommend reading the directions provided before arrival.

Lovely, simple and cozy cottage very well placed to explore south devon. Chris had some great suggestions for local places to visit and where to eat. He even changed a flat tyre for me..above and beyond! An enjoyable week.

A lovely little cottage with great views. The location was ideal as it was not far from the A38 making it easy and quick to travel around the area to the many sites and attractions but it was not so close that you were aware of it in the property. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The only down side was that the owner is renovating the next Read moredoor barn and was doing construction work using noisy power tools all day Sunday and Friday. A bit of a shame as other than that it was quiet. Hide

Perfect for the two of us. Close to A38 meant easy to get to Plymouth or further afield. Very good food in local pubs in Ugborough and Rattery. Friendly and helpful owners close by if needed (they werent) but not intrusive. Lovely coastal walks a short drive away. Comfortable cottage with everything we needed.

The situation was excellent and was close enough to the A38 without it being oppressive. There was easy acess to many places on interest and Chris, our landlord, gave lots of advice on this, especially on places to eat. The situation was rural with a pleasant outlook across a small brook to the fields beyond.
