This is a superb spot, ideal for exploring the whole of North Devon and Cornwall. Located just outside the small village of Higher Clovelly, this property is perfectly placed just two miles from the coast and the much sought after fishing village of Clovelly, which is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, with its cobbled streets filled with shops and pubs leading down to a picturesque harbour. Also close by, the delightful village of Hartland boasts an array of pubs and shops. The donkeys that service the village are, in fact, kept in the surrounding fields near Highford Barn. Just slightly further, the north Cornish town of  Bude offers a choice of award winning dog friendly beaches, surf hire equipment and many quirky and quaint coastal shops, cafes and restaurants.  For families with children, The Milky Way Adventure Park is located only 2 miles away, along with the North Devon Wake and Aqua Park and the Big Sheep adventure park, a little further. The nautical fishing village of Appledore, surf school beach Westward Ho, and port town of Bideford are only a 10 mile drive away.

The barn has been finished to a high standard and lovingly converted with an abundance of charm and beautiful tiled and wooden floors. Entering the property, you will appreciate its bright and airy atmosphere. The French doors make the most of the light, and offer guests direct access to the enclosed garden. There is a TV/DVD and warming log burner for those cooler evenings. The well-equipped kitchen consists of an electric oven and hob, 2 fridges with ice compartments, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. The property benefits from two bathrooms, the first located downstairs via one step and consisting of a freestanding bath with handheld shower attachment and WC. Heading upstairs to the two bedrooms, you will find 1 King-size bed with TV and en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath, shower cubicle and WC. The second bedroom also has a TV and is a twin zip and link which can be made into a Super-king bed on request at time of booking.

Guests can enjoy both the front patio area with garden furniture, and the enclosed rear garden with lawn, seating and BBQ. A collection of indoor games and books are also provided for use.

We have just returned from a week at the barn with our 2 and 3 year old daughters and 2 dogs, we were all really impressed with the barn. Our daughters loved seeing the neighbours donkeys, the garden was very safe and fully enclosed. We met the owners who were lovely and brought over children's dvds for the rainy days which was really appreciated. Fantastic cottage with everything we needed. Very dog friendly as well which was a major plus. Good area for getting out and about. If we visit Devon again we will return to this cottage 5*+ for us.

A lovely property with plenty of room for 4 people. Log burner was lovely, especially on a wet and windy evening . Under floor heating also in the cottage. We had the best time at Highford Barn. The accommodation was exemplary and impeccably clean. They have thought of everything and the personal little touches like the welcome pack and the personalised welcome letter were really appreciated. We stayed at Highford Barn at the end of September and it was an absolute pleasure. From the cleanliness, beautiful decorations and the warmest of welcomes from Sandra and Adrian this was a week that was thoroughly enjoyable. Highford Barn is in a lovely location, near to all the main routes for travelling around North Devon and to Cornwall. Very clean and comfortable. Im OCD with cleaning and this barn is one of the cleanest weve stayed in considering its dog friendly. We arrived to a personalised note from the owners Sandra & Adrian which was a lovely touch plus a litRead moretle food hamper with fresh local milk, bread, eggs, butter, jams & more, very thoughtful. A book with lots of ideas for walks, local pubs, restaurants etc was left for guests as well. The donkeys in the field at the bottom of the cottage garden were entertaining and friendly. Our dog who is anxious even said hello to them. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden watching them and admiring the fabulous views. Highly recommend Highford, we will definitely go back. Hide

The cottage was lovely. Sarah and Adrian were very helpful. The barn conversion was perfect and spotlessly clean. The garden was safe and secure for our dogs. Good access to the main road, so a perfect position to explore the region and visit the local restaurants and pubs. (Dog friendly of course)

Really lovely barn conversion.We were a family of four adults and found it very spacious. Very well equipped , even had dog beds ,dog towels and bowls. The owners have made it feel very welcoming with lovely finishing touches throughout. Bedrooms and bathrooms had quality bed linen and towels were soft and smelt lovely. We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is beautiful with many added home comforts. The welcome pack was lovely and well appreciated. The cottage is spacious and light and airy. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many areas to visit locally. We would definitely like to visit again.

The cottage was very clean and well decorated. It's very well equipped and the owners have provided everything needed. The information booklet is very helpful and the welcome pack was lovely. The location is great for exploring the region. Hartland point is definitely recommended. We would definitely stay again.

The owners left a gift basket with local milk, eggs bread and dog treats, as well as wood for the fire. Our stay was really lovely. The barn had everything you could think of to make a very comfortable and easy stay. You definitely need your car when you are there but there are loads of great things to do not far away. Highford Barn is beautiful! There was a book of information put together by the owners, which helped with restaurant choices/dog walks, which was appreciated. The owners were extremely helpful when required, but we were left to our own devices which was a perfect balance. Wow, what a lovely place this is! Everything you need for a relaxing holiday in noth Devon. The barn is really cosy and comfy, well laid out and well equipped. A great location for exploring North Devon and and Cornwall, but you will need a car as there are no public footpaths close to the barn.

Had a lovely stay at Highford Barn, beautiful location for exploring North Devon and Cornwall. The owners left us some local milk and bread which was a nice touch. The barn has a private secure garden which our Spaniel loved! The property was very well equipped with a nice selection of books if you wanted to relax. Absolutely lovely little cottage to stay at. There was only 2 of us and our dog but is definitely big enough for 4 people. Everything is here that you need,was very clean and tidy. It's in a lovely quiet location and couldn't fault our stay at highfood barn. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

This barn is stunning - amazing outlook from the lounge and a brilliant secure outside space. Wonderful hosts too . :) Youre really near Clovelly but we drove to surf at Westward Ho, Hele Bay and Croyde without too much trouble . Five star !!!

Highford Barn is in stunning location with sea views over the Devon Countryside. The Barn is really comfortable with everything you would need. We had one the best holidays ever. Would highly recommend Highford Barn. The owners are very helpful if you do need anything.

A beautiful barn conversion set in stunning countryside in Higher Clovelly. A good base to travel the North Coast of Devon and Cornwall where there are some beautiful beaches. The owners are on hand and very helpful but not intrusive. Would definitely recommend this holiday home.

Delightful property and owners. On entering through the front door the first time we said this is lovely and perfect and we felt at home immediately. Were not disappointed. Clean, bright & well presented. Well equipped kitchen, activities etc. Perfect location for exploring the Hartland Peninsula & Clovelly. Lovely well equipped cottage. It is off the beaten track and you do need your car but we knew this when we booked. We asked Sandra for recommendations for Sunday lunch having left it till the Saturday. Sandra rang around the pubs she had recommended and although they were all fully booked did manage to book a dog friendly table at the the Mad HatteRead morers restaurant at Merry Harriers Garden Centre , Bideford. Not generally a carvery lover but it was good and the service was excellent. Hide
