This beautiful Devon retreat has been converted with care to retain much of its original charm, built of stone and cob this Grade II Listed 17th Century thatched cottage nestles in the friendly, historic village of Dolton. “Olde Worlde” and just the place to enjoy a romantic get-away.

Bursting with charm, this pretty thatched cottage in the picturesque village of Dolton is full of original features along with plenty of modern comforts. Relax with an evening drink on the idyllic roof terrace or just snuggle up on the sofa – sit back in the warm glow of the wood burner after enjoying a leisurely meal at one of the friendly local pubs.

Outside, the cottage may appear to be traditional chocolate box in design, but inside it surprises, with its clever use of stylish monochrome colours and contemporary pieces of furniture that blend beautifully with the original dark wood and whitewashed exposed beams. The soft, cool colours and natural wood floor of the master bedroom evoke the proximity of the coast, and the charming spiral staircase transports you to the tranquil roof terrace.

Head to the golden sands of Westward Ho! (20 miles) for a day of sand and surfing, stopping off at pretty Appledore for a cream tea on the way back. Take a boat trip from Bideford (15.5 miles) out to Lundy Island to see the resident seals and puffins, or simply enjoy a breathtaking walk along the South West Coast Path. The hidden gem of Castle Drogo on the edge of glorious Dartmoor 12 miles away, is well worth a visit for the stunningly romantic gardens alone.
