This property is in a secluded setting on the edge of the owners’ garden and working small-holding; the coast is just a short drive away, a perfect base for couples looking to explore and relax.

Nestled within the Ashcombe Valley near to the South Devon coast, this secluded lodge offers a perfect place to enjoy remote rural relaxation as well as a base from which to explore the beauty of the coastline and the pretty towns and villages which bejewel its length. Wake up to countryside views, soak up the sunshine on the patio and keep your eyes peeled for kingfishers and a family of otters in the neighbouring stream.

As you awake to beautifully lit, bright mornings in this open-plan studio-style property, you can sit up in bed or stroll around the lodge as you plan your day, enjoying the country views as you eat your breakfast. You also have plush, comfortable seating on which you can keep up with your favourite TV programmes or a late-night movie together. Grab your coffee and step outside through the patio doors to furnished decking to enjoy the fresh country air and more idyllic scenery. You might like to have your dinner together here, perhaps prepared in the petite but well-equipped kitchen, if not cooked on the BBQ. The secluded, enclosed rear garden is a perfect place to make the most of golden sunsets.

The resort of Dawlish Warren (3 miles) has a stunning beach and a renowned National Nature Reserve. It is one of the most important areas for wildfowl and wading birds in the country and regularly used by walkers and cyclists. A little further along the coast discover Teignmouth (4.5 miles), a lively resort boasting a host of pubs, restaurants, a historic pier, local shops and a farmer’s market. The English Riviera is hugely popular, and includes the bustling resort of Torquay (13 miles) and Paignton (18 miles) with its famous zoo.

Nice cottage and ideally situated for Dawlish and Devon. The roads in and around the cottage are devilishly narrow, however the cottage is only 1.25miles from Dawlish. Everything is quiet around the cottage and the brook running alongside the cottage is nice.

Kitchen equipment and basic utensils could be improved. The three seater sofa cushions are well worn and is very low and very uncomfortable.

Paradise for nature lovers! Only once in our previous holiday home (on La Palma) we were as close to nature as in the Otter Lodge. Simply fantastic! For the sheer number of animals watching you forget the rumreisen. By the way: very helpful owner.

A must for those looking for a tranquil setting that is both peaceful and relaxing, that encompasses the joy of farm animals, as well as the sound of nature's variety of birds. Otter Lodge has its own babbling brook that never fails to make you smile, however it makes it hard to leave!
