  • The historic market town of Bideford is within walking distance with a bustling quayside, quaint shops, pubs and restaurants

Property code: 49224

This light and airy cottage sits within the grounds of the owner’s impressive home accessed by a separate driveway overlooking the little white town of Bideford, the Torridge estuary and Tarka Trail.

Sitting within the grounds of its owner’s impressive grounds, this property is a wonderful escape to the countryside, with a private hot tub and wonderful river, town and valley views. Situated on the edge of the North Devon town of Bideford, the property enjoys a peaceful setting which is perfect for families, couples or groups. It’s still close enough to the town, however, to enjoy activities like surfing, kayaking and hiking, as well as eating out and visiting the local pubs and cafes.

A reverse-level property, you enter through an entrance hall which leads to a kitchen/dining/living space. A vaulted ceiling, fully-glazed gable and wood burner contribute to making this a wonderfully cosy yet airy room, while the bi-fold doors allow sweeping views of the river, valley and hills. Head through these doors to a private patio and lawned area, where a hot tub, garden furniture and fire pit/BBQ/pizza oven await. You’ll find the bathroom and two bedrooms on the ground floor - one king-size with en-suite and one twin zip-and-link (which can be made into a super king-size on request) - while upstairs a mezzanine lounge offers a space in which to escape the world, with comfortable sofas and TV.

There are some fantastic places to eat in Bideford, to suit a diverse range of palettes allowing some exciting dining options. Venture 4 miles to Westward Ho!, home to a range of fantastic eateries, amusement arcades and some of the best surf in the South West. There are also two lovely villages nearby which are well worth a visit - Appledore (4 miles) is full of cafes, pubs and galleries, while Clovelly (13.5 miles) is an olde-worlde fishing village, famous for its working donkeys.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 Bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin zip-and-link
  • 1 bathroom and 1 shower room
  • Kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with ice compartment and washer/dryer
  • Hot tub
  • BBQ
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Electric and electric heating included
  • Bed linen and towels included

Perfect base for exploring the South West. It was the first time we had taken our 2 dogs away and they loved it. Having the hot tub was brilliant for unwinding and relaxing at the end of the day (even in the rain). The owners were very helpful and welcoming too. Sad to leave really.

A very relaxing holiday despite the current challenging times. Views are amazing and the overall facilities very good. Would definitely stay again as there is much to visit in the surrounding areas. You need a car to travel and there are many areas to walk dogs and you can find quieter areas.

What a place to stay! We're used to staying in caravans where you are lucky to have a sharp knife! Otters Leap was very well kitted out, everything you needed was there and the finishing touches of a small milk, some tea and coffee and a bottle of prosecco really were the cherry on top. Very clean, private and the view was great, we would have stayRead moreed longer. We had a minor issue where the electric tripped out on the heaters and hot tub but Tony fixed within 15 minutes.
