A spectacular Atlantic coastal location on the stunning Hartland peninsula in North Devon, with direct access to breathtaking unspoilt views, coastal walks and secluded beaches

Experience breathtaking unspoilt views on the stunning Hartland peninsula in this superb petite bolthole that once was a detached granary. Bright and airy with plenty of character, this sweet property is an opportunity to embrace a slower pace of life in a lesser-known corner of North Devon. Open the stable door in the morning to let light flood into the double-height living space, before nipping round to the side of the cottage to enjoy your coffee watching the sun rise over the fields.

Whether you’re snuggled up on the sofa in front of the wood burner or having a relaxing soak in the freestanding bath, you won’t find it hard to unwind here. The interiors reflect the coastal position of the property, and the bedroom features clever use of driftwood for coat pegs and the headboard. The small but perfectly formed kitchen is ideal for cooking a light supper after a long day discovering the area, which you can enjoy at the little table for two. Climb the pretty spiral staircase to bed and sink into the deep mattress, looking up at the beautiful exposed beams along the low apex ceilings.

Whether you prefer a quiet, secluded beach or a more traditional seaside experience, there’s something for everyone here. Pop to Hartland Quay (4 miles) or a little further to the resorts at Westward Ho! (16 miles) or Bude (19 miles). Take a wander around Hartland Abbey’s gardens (3 miles) and even stop for a spot of tea. If you’re after a more adventurous holiday, the North Devon Wake Park (7 miles) offers wakeboarding, paddleboarding and ringo rides.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 1 bedroom – double
  • 1 bathroom
  • Electric oven and 2 ring hob and fridge/freezer
  • Wood burner (logs provided)
  • Electric and electric heaters included
  • Ample off-road parking
  • Wi-Fi included (can be intermittent due to rural location)
  • 2 small dogs or 1 medium dog welcome

  • Regret no babies

Puffins nest is just perfect. Everything you need for a get away for two! Host made us very welcome - great welcome pack for our dogs! Thoroughly spoilt. Cant wait to return to this beautiful part of the world and such a wonderful place to stay. Great for walking. Is remote but just what we were looking for.

Puffins nest is a perfect jewel of a getaway. We loved every minute of our stay; walking, off to the long sands near Westward Ho! and finding that pubs are open again. Sometimes just sitting and watching the sun go down, armed only with a small glass of something. Would have been lovely in the summer. The weather was extremely wet In October - it was originally booked for June but cancelled due to lock down- & we struggled to find places to hang & dry wet coats & clothing. The scenery is stunning, but the 5 miles of single track road to get to it was a bit off putting & we found we didnt want to travel to puRead morebs & restaurants at night. Hide

Lovely little bolt hole, unique, isolated and quiet even though its on a working farm. Family very welcoming and on site if you need anything. Only a five minute walk to stunning scenery over the cliffs and sea. If you want sea views from inside the property this is not the one for you. Will definitely go back.

Lovely cottage right by the coast. Just a short walk down the track and you are on the coastal paths. The cottage has everything you need for your stay and the woodburner was a nice addition on a cold windy september weekend away.
