Cottage for two, situated in the attractive village of Weare Giffard in rural North Devon, just a short walk from a well-regarded 18th century pub and within a ten-mile drive of the local beach at Westward Ho!
A romantic cottage set alongside the River Torridge, this property is just right for a getaway for two. Featuring a quirky upside-down layout, you can relax in the lounge together and look out on the private enclosed garden with the meandering river beyond. A short walk from the local pub and in an area rich with walking routes, cycle trails, beaches, shops and more, you can fill your days exploring the best of North Devon and Cornwall before returning to your riverside retreat.
With an upside-down design, the ground-floor is home to a brightly decorated bedroom with a lovely country theme. A comfortable double bed provides a relaxed night’s sleep, and there is also a shower room with WC. An open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner makes up the upstairs space, and a Juliet balcony throws light into the room affording great views over the enclosed garden. In the summer, the garden’s outside seating area comes into its own, whilst in winter the comfortable lounge is the place to be with its beamed ceiling, wood burner-effect electric fire and TV.
A novel way to explore the area is the popular Tarka Trail. Hop on your bikes or hire a tandem and enjoy the miles of traffic-free trails through gorgeous scenery. For long walks along the beach, Westward Ho! is only 9 miles away and provides a seemingly endless stretch of golden sand. Walk hand in hand along the shore, and then stop off for tea at one of the many local restaurants. Floral oasis RSH Garden Rosemoor is just under 4 miles from the cottage.
