A picturesque retreat, nestled in a peaceful position within the beautiful village of Sidbury. Which boasts a church, village hall, pub, shop and butchers all within walking distance of the cottage.

Tucked inland, 2 miles away from the red cliffs and luscious green hills of the Sid Valley, this chocolate-box cottage is an ideal base to explore the wonders of East Devon. Combining period features with contemporary detail, this holiday property is perfect for growing families or a trio of friends seeking home comforts without sacrificing style. Gather together for a good catch up, curling up on the sofa in front of the gas fire to swap stories and put the world to rights over a pot of tea.

Charmed by the traditional shutters and olde-worlde charm of the exterior, kick off your boots inside the lobby before making your way into the impressive lounge, featuring exposed beams and a fireplace with wood burner effect gas fire. Through a doorway, follow the cottage-style stairs to find two refreshingly decorated bedrooms and a shower room with WC. The lounge leads to the pretty kitchen and spacious conservatory dining area, a cosy setting for afternoon tea, or a place to enjoy breakfast to the sound of birdsong and the smell of bacon sizzling. The enclosed garden is a tempting spot for a BBQ, with views of the surrounding unspoiled countryside.

The village of Sidbury has plenty to offer from a local church and shop to footpaths and bridleways accessible from your front doorstep. Further afield is the town of Ottery St. Mary 6.5 miles away, famous for its meandering river where nature enthusiasts can spot kingfishers, otters and occasionally beavers. If a beach visit is more your cup of tea, Budleigh Salterton is a traditional seaside town 10 miles away, or Seaton 9.5 miles away has a scenic tramway that runs through the Axe Valley.

This was a wonderful holiday cottage and spotlessly clean. The cottage was beautifully decorated and we managed to park right outside against the church wall. The tiny road outside the cottage is very busy at school times so avoid leaving or coming back at these times. The back garden had the most beautiful view and was dog friendly. If you have a Read moredog, there is a lovely park round the corner down Bridge Street. There is also a pub and shop in the village and Sidmouth is 15 mins away by car. Hide

An excellently appointed, dog-friendly cottage in a delightful village with good dog walking and romping opportunities. View overlooking splendid church made the view almost literally devine. Cottage is hi spec and easy maintenance, with all mod cons. Village amenities pretty basic, but that wasnt a problem for us.

Lovely cottage, clean, comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen (thank you so much for that!!) Cosy and peaceful, great location for sightseeing and fantastic walks. The 'welcome basket' was very welcome after a long journey, it was just what we needed. We have every intention of returning.

We loved our stay in this cottage! It is beautifully presented, small and cosy, and situated in a pretty village with thatched cottages and a lovely church. Sidbury is a good location, close to many interesting places, both the coast and the country. An excellent base, and we hope to return, possibly next year.
