Panoramic vistas of valleys, rivers and hillsides, a private hot tub to sink into of an evening and the simple feeling of being at peace await you at this lovely property, found on the edge of Bideford, North Devon. The bijou cottage, set in the grounds of its owner’s home, is situated in an elevated position overlooking the harbour town, making it a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding area. Enjoy a meal at the breakfast bar which separates the lounge from the kitchen space or dine alfresco on the patio furniture outside. Enjoy a morning coffee in the pebbled garden at the front of the property, or enjoy the panoramic country views in the enclosed rear garden with its hot tub, garden furniture and BBQ/fire pit/pizza oven.

Make sure you head into Bideford, where you’ll find a market town laden with pretty boutique shops, cobbled streets and a bustling quay. There are some fantastic places to eat here too, including the Chocolate Teapot cafe which serves Devon cream teas with a chocolatey twist! Head 4 miles to Westward Ho! to enjoy some of the South West’s best surf, some classic amusement arcades and fabulous eateries, while nearby Appledore (4 miles) is a quaint riverside village, bursting with pubs, galleries and cafes.

Wonderful cottage. Very cosy and comfortable. Xmas hamper was lovely. We had champagne in the hot tub then Xmas dinner outside with a log fire. Gorgeous. Owners were so warm and welcoming would like to think we will return one day. But dont take our word for it. Try it yourselves you wont regret it. Bideford is within walking distance.

The hosts, Tony and Karen, are very welcoming and the added touches on arrival such as a bottle of prosecco and dog treats were a nice surprise! Great cottage and not far to walk to Bidford. Although I would not recommend Bideford the area and walks are great. Instow beech was great to take our puppy every morning, Appledore is a lovely place to explore and both are only 3 miles away. They are plenty of walking and bigger beeches at westward Ho and Woolacombe. Had a lovely time.

Tarka View is a very nice cottage with great views of the surrounding area, lots of amenities (including the hot tub) and a good location for walks and access to Bideford itself. Very suitable for or dogs who seemed to enjoy it there as well. I definitely would recommend Tarka View to others. Rob Nichols
