Property code: DECKH

Cosy coastal retreat tucked away in the heart of Appledore perfect for couples and small families. 2 minutes walk from the quayside, beach 2 miles, shops, pubs and restaurants all walking distance.

At the end of a narrow street in the peaceful fishing village of Appledore is this snug cottage and its pretty painted exterior, perfect for couples and small families looking to escape to the coast. Located in the heart of the village you will have a great range of activities within walking distance including welcoming pubs, shops and restaurants. A trip to the Maritime Museum followed by some lunch while watching the water lazily lap against the quayside can quickly fill an afternoon, such is the hypnotic quality of the sleepy Devon coast.

An inviting open-plan kitchen/lounge centres on the ground floor, as full of kitsch details and curiosities as Appledore itself. Painted exposed beams and a wood burner add heaps of cottage charm. Connecting to this room is the dining conservatory, with access to the external decked area. Evenings can be spent enjoying wine and crackers on comfortable sofas by the TV and wood burner, or perhaps spread across the conservatory and outdoor dining table whilst the BBQ works its magic outside. Both bright and airy bedrooms can be found upstairs, this floor is fresh and comparatively simple with two neat bedrooms and a shower room with WC.

If you are looking to travel further than the quayside, Westward Ho! can be found 3 miles away for miles of sandy beach and seaside amusements. Bideford can be found 4 miles in the opposite direction, home to museums, shops and restaurants, as well as boat trips to the local treasure that is Lundy Island. Young families might also want to visit The BIG Sheep, an agricultural amusement park also 4 miles from the cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • Two bedrooms: 1 king-size and 1 single
  • One bathroom with shower
  • Wood burner
  • TV/DVD in lounge, small TV in double bedroom
  • Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine
  • Roadside parking a 5 minute walk
  • Public car park a 10 minute walk
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Wifi included
  • Beach 2 miles
  • Quayside, shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance

Spotlessly clean and very well equipped Beautiful sunny courtyard garden and the dining table in the conservatory was lovely to eat in or enjoy a coffee . There is no parking but we purchased a weekly permit from the council to cover all car parks in Torridge council area for 20 which wasRead more well with it . I would highly recommend The Deckhouse . A beautiful, cosy and warm cottage. Private and peaceful and the location was perfect. We love this part of Devon and Appledore is delightful. We felt completely at home at The Deckhouse, it was so clean and comfortable. We were able to explore the area both on glorious walks and further afield to Woolacombe and my favourite, Heartland Point and QuRead moreay. Unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions we didn't experience any the local pubs, restaurants or shops but John's was perfect for our needs. Hide

The Deckhouse was the perfect cottage for a autumn family break in Appledore. It's the perfect location, very quiet and very cosy. We loved having a log burner to return to in the evenings after blustery walks in Appledore.

Exceptionally clean and well equipped cottage in a very modern style.Much use has been made of all the space in a small cottage. The village of Appledore is well situated in an area excellent for walkers. Plenty of good eateries in the village.

The Deck House is fabulous. Very well fitted and very spacious. Immaculately clean and fresh. Lots of nice touches like a picnic basket to borrow. Iron, hair dryer and if needed an umbrella. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom great, especially the shower. It's has a dining table in the conservatory. Additional seating with a table outside on the Read moredecked courtyard to the rear. We would happily live there. However the WiFi is woeful. Appledore is perfect for those who crave peace and quiet. Hide

A lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The location was good, close enough to the shops and pubs but far enough away to be very quiet. The cottage had everything we needed, the owners had thought of everything. Definitely recommend, hoping to return.
