The cottage had been beautifully restored. It was very comfortable and the images are exactly as you will find it. The kitchen was well equipped and the welcome basket was a nice little treat. It was lovely to sit in the garden and enjoy a drink at dusk listening to the peace and quiet and enjoying the lovely views. The grounds are huge (700 acres)Read more and very varied (meadows, forests, a lake and a quarry) and the gardens were beautifully maintained. Location was great. Hide

The cottage was even better than we imagined everything was top quality Perfect location for traveling around north Devon Clean and comfortable with all necessities and a welcome basket too. Had a fantastic time exploring a beautiful part of the country from a great cottage.

A very comfortable accommodation, we did not need anything else. Although we did say in the review we would be back on second thoughts the stairs were rather steep for a pair of 73 year olds who are obviously not getting any younger! We would probably not return however did we enjoy our stay . . . a redoubtable Yes.

Beautifully appointed holiday cottage. Furnishings are of a high quality and comfort. The area is wonderfully quiet with easy access to Dartmoor and the coast. The Rams Head Inn in Dolton provides excellent food at a reasonable price - 15min walk from the property.

We stayed at the lovely property for a long weekend and it was just amazing. The Gatehouse is a lovely old building, yet has been equipped to a modern standard that still retains its olde world charm. We could not fault this property in any way and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering a visit.

The Gatehouse if a fantastic place to holiday. The cottage itself is lovely, the location is beautiful and the owners are friendly and helpful. It is positioned half-way between Dartmoor and Exmoor, which makes it ideal for exploring the Devon and Somerset landscapes, but it is also close enough to the coast to make that within easy reach. There arRead moree also 700 acres of estate to explore. We would highly recommend it. Hide

The Gate House is situated in a beautiful estate where you can roam the woods and gardens. Really located in 'rural devon' but ideal for those that like walking the lanes but close enough to other tourist areas if you take the car.
