This beautiful, unique watchtower offers fabulous views and provides a true hideaway for those looking to spend quality time together on a romantic break close to the North Devon coast.

Perched high on a hill with stunning panoramic views, this unique and quirky Grade II listed property is a fantastic hideaway for couples with a desire to escape and explore. The Watchtower’s location means you can climb the stairs and gaze out over the River Taw and its surrounding fields and hills from the bedroom/living area. Close to beaches, towns and seaside villages, you will be spoilt for choice each day when deciding on your next holiday adventure.

The open-plan living areas both upstairs and downstairs are light and airy, as the beautifully shaped traditional windows allow natural light to flood in. The space is cosy and relaxing, perfect for returning to after a day spent exploring local treasures. The kitchen is without an oven, but instead has a microwave for quick meals and the property is surrounded by a range of pubs serving food. On warm evenings, head outside into the garden which is shared with those staying in the other two properties on-site. Watch the sun set over the rippling river whilst enjoying a BBQ supper alfresco.

A pannier market, shopping centre and fascinating local museum lie just 1.5 miles away in the local town of Barnstaple. Here you can also enjoy delicious food at one of the many different restaurants, pubs and cafes. Sand and surf are just 8.5 miles away at Saunton; take a picnic and settle down in the dunes to shelter from the refreshing sea breeze, or don your wetsuit and dive in. If roaming blooming flowerbeds and kitchen gardens are for you, head 8 miles to Tapeley Park. Stop off in the seaside village of Instow on the way home for a meal in one of the many fabulous waterfront eateries.

What a wonderful place to stay very quirky, romantic and cosy Lovely walks all close by with stunning views We were concerned about the building work in the next field but didnt need to worry it didnt affect our stay at all

The Watchtower is a wonderfully quirky getaway hideyhole which has amazing views and sunsets. Its a bedroom upstairs and kitchen with cafe table for two and showroom downstairs so no lounge. The kitchen is well equipped so you can spend and evening after a day sightseeing making a lovely home cooked special meal. Fantastic property which had just undergone an amazing refurbishment just before our stay. All new equipment, kettle, toaster, fridge, oven and hob. Brand new shower and toilet, the whole place looked 10x better than the photos. Mr Patel met us to show us in and gave Information on the local area. Perfect spring getaway, giving the feeling of isolation perched on the brow, catching all the weather, brisk wind or gorgeous sunshine while admiring the views. Everywhere is down hill to begin but shops or Tarka trail countryside are within walking distance. We had such a good half term week here. It was clean and we had everything we needed. I liked the idea of no cooker or washing machine as this meant I had a complete break. The location was brilliant with different places we visited only 30 minutes away and the owner was welcoming and very helpful. Would definitely go back.

This property is ideal for 2 people who love walks or cycling and enjoy peace and quiet. it has lovely views (especially sunsets) and the owner is very friendly and informative of places to see and eat.

Amazing little quirky property! Kitchen could use a thoughtful makeover to maximise space available. Otherwise brilliant. Owner (and neighbour) was friendliness and courtesy itself, offering very helpful suggestions as to various local destinations.

Delightful property in a very pretty location. Comfortable and compact with all necessary equipment. Welcoming hosts and there are larger properties on the same site if required. Amazing conversion of an old watchtower made a very enjoyable stay.
