This split-level apartment is situated on a pretty street in the town of Ilfracombe on the North Devon Coast, a popular holiday destination which offers a bustling harbour and pretty beach. It’s in the name - this property contains steep, higgledy-piggledy stairs leading up to rooms and a terrace with sea views.
A slate walkway leads up to the front door of this apartment and once inside, steep stairs lead to the second floor accommodation. Due to the steep, uneven steps, a typical feature of an old property, this property may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. There are plenty of bright and airy rooms and the excellent location makes this charming property the ideal place for beach lovers. The kitchen boasts a breakfast bar and is the perfect place to cook up a storm with fresh fish and other tasty local produce. Another steep staircase leads to the upper floor where the lounge is located. This comfortable and cosy room is in the eaves of the building and as such has sloped ceilings and limited head height. Outside, there is a pleasant roof terrace where the owners have provided garden furniture, making it a great spot from which to enjoy spectacular sea views. Please note that there is also a steep staircase up to this terrace.
The attractive Tunnels Beaches are, as you might expect, a collection of beaches accessed through hand-carved tunnels. There is a tidal pool here as well as a cliffside cafe, so visitors can really make a day of it. There is an interesting aquarium in the town, as well as a range of shops and restaurants, whilst the town’s harbour is well worth a visit to see the imposing statue of Damien Hurst’s Verity that dominates the scene.
