The immediate area has much to offer including the magical 30-metre-high Whitelady Waterfall, and here you can walk through the gorge to Lydford village which offers a traditional Devon inn. You will also be perfectly placed to explore the whole of Dartmoor National Park, 'England’s last wilderness' teaming with myths, legends and mystery, on foot, bike or horseback - discover amazing far-reaching views, rugged tors to climb and wildlife aplenty. Just 8 miles away, Roadford lake is the South West’s largest lake for water sports and offers brown trout angling too. Other attractions accessible from here include the historic naval city of Plymouth where you can take a tour of the oldest gin factory in the UK and wander around the ever popular Barbican and Hoe, plus Buckland Abbey, Dartmoor Prison and Morwellham Quay.

Step inside this stunning property where first you'll find a spacious entrance hall with a beautiful flagstone floor which leads through to the ground floor accommodation. The furthest room is the fabulous lounge which overlooks the garden and this boasts comfortable sofas arranged around an original inglenook fireplace with a warming wood burner; and offers a perfect place to relax after a day exploring. There is also a second less formal lounge, also offering the lovely feature of a wood burner, and this includes a TV/DVD. Located next to the lounges is the perfectly presented dining room, boasting another gorgeous flagstone floor and also a DAB radio/iPod dock, and here is the perfect venue to gather everyone for a relaxed meal in the evening. From here, enter the superb kitchen, which is a keen cook's dream and includes a further dining area in the shape of a breakfast bar alongside a great selection of appliances including an AGA, double electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, separate wine cooler and also a dishwasher. Completing the offering on the ground floor, you will then discover the first of the stunning bedrooms: a twin room with a TV, French doors to outside, and an en-suite shower room with WC. Located in the en-suite is a useful utility cupboard with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Venturing up the stairs and onto the split-level first floor, you will find yourself on an impressively spacious galleried landing with a chair and selection of books, giving access to the rest of the bedrooms. All presented in a fabulous contemporary yet in keeping style, these bedrooms firstly include two king-size bedrooms, both boasting a TV and an en-suite shower room with WC. There are also three twin bedrooms, two of which include a TV and one of which boasts an additional day bed which can be used to accommodate an extra guest, complete the sleeping accommodation. A lovely family bathroom with shower over bath and WC is the final room inside the property.

Outside, you will then discover a large garden waiting to be enjoyed and this includes a lawn with a croquet area, gravelled patio area, garden furniture and a fire pit with BBQ grill. It's the perfect place to dine alfresco during warm weather. The garden also boasts the fabulous feature of a hot tub, in which you can enjoy a dip after a moorland walk. In the barn (lit but unheated) enjoy a game of table tennis or pool.  Ask about hiring a couple of pizza ovens for the ultimate in alfresco cooking.  Ample private off-road parking is provided on the driveway.

A pleasant cottage in a good location. The hot tub was very enjoyable and was used more frequently than anticipated. It had a well appointed kitchen with more than enough crockery and glassware. The only real downside is that because of the cottages thick walls Wi-Fi is only available in a small part of the cottage.

Wow what a place, 11 of us stayed here for a week, it's such a stunning house and setting. I would highly recommend a stay in the Whitelady House, it had everything you need and more, the hot tub was fantastic after a walk across the moors. Lovely people who own it too. This holiday has definitely made us want to spend more time on Dartmoor.

Just back from a wonderful week. Spacious, well equipped accommodation. Hot tub, games barn were particular favourites with our extended family group. Having two living rooms was very useful. Pleasantly surprised at the size of the garden area. Had a lovely BBQ over the fire pit. Also had Sunday lunch at The Castle which was scrummy. The welcome giRead moreft of a box of flapjacks went down really well. Hide

Excellent equipment throughout, particularly in the kitchen with everything you could require. Friendly owners who provide lots of details for local shops, pubs etc. House was exactly as described and couldn't have had a better experience with my group in Devon.

A very large house with everything you could possibly need, comfortable and spotless. The kitchen was well equiped and the dining table great for all of us to eat together. The whole family (5 to 80 year olds) were well catered for with 2 fire places, the hot tub, croquet on the lawn, outdoor bbq and pool/table tennis in the outbuilding. Lovely watRead moreerfall (NT property) at the bottom of the garden you can walk to. Walks on Darmoor and cycling on the old railway line were very close by. Hide
