Enter the holiday home to find good storage space for coats, boots and other outdoor gear. Find a ground-floor WC and then a bright kitchen leading through to an inviting dining room, with a Rayburn and family table. Sit down to jolly meals together in here before wandering through to the lounge to watch TV or a DVD. Head upstairs to take in the country views before settling for the night in one of your three bedrooms. Find your family bathroom also on the first floor. Make fresh cups of espresso coffee in the morning to carry out into the sunshine. Relax out here too after long days exploring and perhaps light the BBQ for an al fresco supper under the stars.
Follow a section of the Tarka Trail from Landkey on foot or by bicycle. This 180-mile route takes in picturesque countryside, dramatic sea cliffs and scenic beaches; the southern loop includes the longest, continuous, off-road cycle path in the country. Drive 9 miles from your holiday home to the edge of Exmoor National Park, with its myriad of footpaths and unique landscapes. Head a little further, 18.5 miles from your base, to Simonsbath, where you can explore the Upper Barle Valley. Children will also enjoy visiting Exmoor Zoo, just over 11 miles from the cottage.
