This lovely cottage sits in an elevated position with great countryside views. It enjoys a convenient location in a popular Devonshire village, just three miles from Barnstaple with its thriving town centre.

Escape to this tranquil retreat at Landkey, in North Devon, close to the Tarka Trail. Ideal for four guests, and also welcoming three dogs, this appealing country cottage is perfect for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Follow footpaths through your scenic surroundings, venture into Exmoor National Park or head to the coast for sandy beaches and clifftop walks. This three-bedroom, semi-detached cottage is also just 3 miles from bustling Barnstaple.

Enter the holiday home to find good storage space for coats, boots and other outdoor gear. Find a ground-floor WC and then a bright kitchen leading through to an inviting dining room, with a Rayburn and family table. Sit down to jolly meals together in here before wandering through to the lounge to watch TV or a DVD. Head upstairs to take in the country views before settling for the night in one of your three bedrooms. Find your family bathroom also on the first floor. Make fresh cups of espresso coffee in the morning to carry out into the sunshine. Relax out here too after long days exploring and perhaps light the BBQ for an al fresco supper under the stars.

Follow a section of the Tarka Trail from Landkey on foot or by bicycle. This 180-mile route takes in picturesque countryside, dramatic sea cliffs and scenic beaches; the southern loop includes the longest, continuous, off-road cycle path in the country. Drive 9 miles from your holiday home to the edge of Exmoor National Park, with its myriad of footpaths and unique landscapes. Head a little further, 18.5 miles from your base, to Simonsbath, where you can explore the Upper Barle Valley. Children will also enjoy visiting Exmoor Zoo, just over 11 miles from the cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A clean and well-equipped cottage with an enclosed garden suitable for dogs and less than a minute's walk from the Tarka Trail. Rock Park in Barnstaple is about two miles away. There are many coastal attractions and parts of Exmoor within a 15 mile radius.

Amazing little three bed cottage in a great location. Lovely back garden with great views of the hills. Really good location for Braunton and surfing at Saunton Sands. Nice owners who live next door. Wi-fi isnt amazing if you need to do any work whilst there but I think that is just Devon all over.

A spacious but cosy, well equipped cottage with a sunny, south facing garden. We spent six nights here in early May and loved it. The owners live next door and are so welcoming and helpful. The Tarka Trail is just 50 yards away, ideal for the dogs. We'll be back.
