Easter is the second most popular time of the year for eating chocolate so why not tie it in with a fun day out? Not only will you add to your Easter egg collection, but you will also have the chance to meet famous literary rabbits, cuddle baby farm animals, whizz down whirlwind water rides, hunt for dinosaur fossils and even try some dolphin spotting on a quirky island egg hunt.

Take a journey through a land of chocolate heaven to meet the Easter Bunny, only stopping to pick up a special gift in the Chocolate Easter Bunny's Grotto. Take a photo with your new friend (small cost applies) and discover all things animal in the Zoo-Farm. Search for the thousands of choccy surprises that the Easter Bunny has hidden on the Easter egg hunt and look out for the Bunny himself as you run around trying to find them. Who wouldn’t want to see some dinosaur action and hunt for Easter Eggs at the same time? Brave adventurers can discover dangerous dinos as well as becoming a Palaeontologist for a few hours, uncovering a whole host of fascinating fossils as they go. Find out who has been stealing the dinosaur eggs by following clues - if you solve this most exciting of mysteries you can win a special Easter Edition Dinosaur Expert Certificate (who wouldn’t want one of those?), a selection of real 160 million-year-old fossils or a chocolatey treat. The Easter Bunny has had his work cut out this year dropping his eggs amongst the beautiful grounds of Arlington Court. Collect clues to claim your Cadbury's chocolate prize and then visit the National Trust Carriage Museum, an enchanting Regency house and impressive collection of horse-drawn vehicles set in gorgeous gardens. There are lots of other Cadbury's events at various locations across Devon, including Buckland Abbey, A la Ronde, Coleton Fishacre and Compton Castle.

Do something for animals and earn a tasty Easter treat at the same time! The Donkey Sanctuary is celebrating 50 years of helping equines across the world by putting on a special Easter hunt. Follow the trail around the sanctuary to hunt out the Easter eggs and discover some of the most iconic donkeys that the sanctuary has looked after. When you've finished, pick up your egg and a completion certificate. Don't miss a walk around the scenic farm trails either as spring is the perfect season to meet the gorgeous donks!

Hands up who wants to meet Peter Rabbit? Head to Crealy Adventure Park for some exciting Easter activities where you can hunt for choccies and meet the famous naughty rabbit all on the same day. Join the Megga Easter Egg Hunt where you can find the magical egg locations and tick them off on your own special map. When you have claimed your super tasty prize, discover the fantastic outdoor and water rides – make a splash on the Tidal Wave log flume, shoot down the Vortex water slide and ride the Maximum rollercoaster. Not for the faint-hearted – just save the chocolate until you get off!

The annual Easter Eggstravaganza Festival at The Big Sheep offers hours of good old-fashioned family fun, with chocolate eggs hidden all throughout their site. Don’t worry about not finding one as there are over 30,000 of them! All ages will be catered for with a great selection of rides and attractions and some fantastic shows. Little ones will be thrilled as the Easter bunny will be hopping about at intervals throughout the day to meet and greet the children - the hunts are also age appropriate, with little egg hunts for tiny tots and a clue-based adventure for children over eight.

There’s nowhere more Eastery than Pennywell Farm. The farm is choc-o-bloc with animal activities all over the Easter holidays – welcome the new spring babies including bunnies, ducklings, piglets, baby goats and fluffy chicks. Meet the older animals too as the resident alpacas, ponies, donkeys and goats wait for you over at the farmyard. Hop to it at the Babbacombe Model Village in Torquay to discover 20 hidden eggs. But beware as they are hidden eggstremely well! Children will love nosing through the miniature village and gardens in search of the eggs and if they find them all, they will get a choccie treat. Little ones can also take home a fun Jump into Springtime activity leaflet to work through when they get home. While the kids are hunting for eggs, why not have a look around this lovely little village which brings to life 60 years of English life and culture through its 413 miniature buildings and four acres of award-winning gardens.

More dinosaur fun at this fabulous dino park where the most unique egg hunt in the South West takes place! Watch out for scary dinosaurs as you hunt for the hidden eggs and even meet the famous Woolly Bear on your travels. Take a selfie and have a cuddle before moving on to one of the animal experiences. The park is a zoo set in acres of gardens so not only can you discover some exotic and indigenous wildlife, you can take the Dino Express train ride as you go. If you are just there for the prehistoric monsters, head to the fossil museum and life-size animatronic dinosaurs – great fun and an educational activity to boot!

One of Devon’s most scenic Easter Egg hunts, this tranquil and unspoilt tiny island just off the coast of North Devon is one for those who want to get away from the crowds. Hop aboard the MS Oldenburgh in Ilfracombe and glide over to the island where if you are lucky, you will arrive alongside a playful pod of dolphins who love following the ship. When you dock, hurry to the trails where you can follow the clues and complete the challenges to make your way to a special prize. This excellent day trip sails at 10am and returns at 6pm so not only will you have a peaceful journey across the water, you get to spend a good few hours discovering the island too.
