This cottage is situated in a beautiful tranquil woodland valley at Greatrock Farm on the outskirts of Hennock village and the local pub (The Palk Arms) is just a ten minute walk away. The market town of Bovey Tracey is a short drive away and offers an interesting variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and much more. The forest surrounding the property is a haven for wildlife and offers a range of walks straight from your front door, including a private woodland track for guest use only with a great view point with picnic table. Tottiford, Trenchford and Kennick reservoirs are about an hour away on foot or a ten minute drive. Also the National Trust estate of Parke in Bovey Tracey is well worth a visit. There is easy access to Dartmoor National Park; highlights include Haytor, Houndtor and Widdecombe-on-the-Moor. Visit beautiful coastal locations in South Devon such as Teignmouth, Shaldon, Torquay and Dartmouth. The cathedral city of Exeter is just half an hour away by road or why not take a scenic railway journey there from Newton Abbot train station.
One of three cottages at Greatrock Farm sleeping up to four guests. The three cottages altogether can sleep up to eleven people which is perfect for gatherings with family or friends. This cottage is attached to the main farmhouse, offering an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom is a twin (2’ 6’’ beds) which can also be arranged as a single bedroom. There is central heating throughout, an additional electric heater in the lounge and a wood-burning stove (with a free supply of logs). The bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel radiator. Wi-fi is available and the cottage has a Freeview TV and DVD Player. If you choose to stay in and cater for yourselves, the kitchen has an electric oven/microwave with ceramic hob and a fridge with small freezer compartment. Outside the cottage has its own private courtyard with dining furniture (accessed by the French doors from the lounge or via a side gate) plus an additional bistro set in front of the cottage to catch the morning sunshine.
There are large gardens to explore with additional shared seating areas, an outdoor kitchen (with a wood fired BBQ and pizza oven), a croquet lawn, petanque court and an ornamental greenhouse from which you can observe a large variety of woodland birds feeding throughout the day. The games barn (with home cinema) has a wood burning stove for cooler days and bi-fold doors which can be fully opened in good weather. Enjoy listening to music on the sound system whilst playing pool, table tennis, darts, table football and traditional pub games with competition standard equipment. Or relax watching your favourite film online or choose a DVD from our extensive collection. As guests you will be welcome to visit the resident alpacas whenever you like. Greatrock Farm offers alpaca walking experiences where you can lead the alpacas through ancient woodland and enjoy homemade treats and hot drinks at the summerhouse. Also, pottery experiences during your stay can be booked at the Studio including ceramic painting (an activity you can enjoy in the comfort of your cottage), hand building/sculpting with clay and throwing clay on the wheel. Both the alpaca and pottery experiences can be booked directly with the owners after your cottage booking is confirmed and have an additional cost.
