A local's guide to Exmouth

Exmouth is a Victorian-era holiday resort with a long beach and promenade. As the name suggests, it sits at the mouth of the River Exe.  Ever since the late 18th century, the town has enjoyed its status as a popular seaside destination drawing in sunseekers from far and wide.

We recently ran a competition to find some of the best photos taken in and around the South West, and were inundated by gorgeous photos of Devon.Whether that was animals out in their natural habitat, stunning sunsets over the sea or beautiful shots of countryside stretching up to the horizon – more than TWO THOUSAND images were sent our way, making our job of choosing a winner rather hard…

Things to do in South Devon

The English Riviera resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham have been popular South Devon holiday destinations for decades. Here, you’ll find everything associated with a traditional seaside holiday: beaches, amusements and a lovely mild climate.

The area is also a walker’s haven, with both the South West Coast Path and an abundance of gorgeous countryside to explore. Haldon Forest, 15 minutes from Exeter, also has a series of trails that make for lovely shorts strolls or bike rides.

Home to an abundance of attractions, from Plymouth Aquarium and Paignton Zoo to Woodlands Adventure Park in Totnes, South Devon has plenty to offer families. Plymouth is also home to many popular shops, while Dartmouth offers a unique shopping experience with a variety of independent boutiques and galleries.
