A distinctive character

Despite being a suburb of Exeter, Topsham still maintains a distinctive character outside the bustle of city life. Originally a shipbuilding centre and the main port of Exeter, the Mid Devon town is steeped in maritime history.

There are plenty of fascinating sights and landmarks to see in Topsham, including St Margaret’s Anglican Church, which dates back to the 10th century, and the elegant 17th century Dutch-style merchant houses along The Strand, one of which houses Topsham Museum.

If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a bite, restaurants including the Pig And Pallet, The Galley Restaurant and Denley's Essence Of India are all worth a visit, while The Globe pub serves up tantalising local brews. You’ll also be a 20-minute drive from Exmouth, home to a beautiful beach and many amenities.
