This listed property is located in the North Devon countryside, just two miles from the Atlantic Coast. The village of Hartland is just one mile from the property and offers a coffee shop, pubs, galleries, and craft workshops, as well as a traditional bakers, and butchers. Hartland Abbey is also nearby and is a wonderful place to spend a day, with its expansive gardens, interesting architectural features, and enjoyable walk down to the cove beach, which visitors may recognise from the BBC’s The Night Manager or Tim Roth’s The War Zone. A little further afield, there are many local attractions to suit all tastes, including the huge sandy beach Westward Ho!, the private village of Clovelly, and the Cornish seaside town of Bude.

This historical thatched cottage offers a relaxing base from which to enjoy a break in North Devon. On the ground floor the main lounge is a light-filled dual-aspect room with a stone fireplace which now houses a wood burner-effect electric fire. The lounge makes a great place to sit back at the end of a busy day of sightseeing and perhaps enjoy the TV and DVD. There is a second lounge room, in the form of a lounge/diner, which offers a large inglenook fireplace, with another wood burner-effect electric fire, sofa, and armchairs, as well as a large dining table. The traditional farmhouse-style kitchen provides a second dining area, perfect for breakfast or informal meals, and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The washer/dryer can be found separately in the utility room. The main bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC is located on the ground floor, as is a separate WC. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, three of which are double rooms, the fourth being a twin room. Guests will also find a shower room with WC on this floor, and a handy office space, just in case one of your party needs to catch up with work.

Outside, there is a spacious garden, with table and chairs. Please note that a stream runs through the garden, so children will need to be supervised.

  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £350 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £40. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

This is a lovely cottage in an idyllic location. It is a cosy and well equipped cottage and the welcome gifts on arrival were appreciated after a long journey. The cottage is ideally located to explore the beauty of Hartland and the stunning coastal walks. Absolutely loved the house and the garden, the storage heating made it feel very cosy and the location is beautiful. The new breakfast terrace was a wonderful place to enjoy the sun and all the birds and butterflies.

We had a great holiday, loved the character of the cottage which was very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Its a beautiful part of North Devon, lots of amazing walks much appreciated by our very energetic border collie. Would love to come back.

We had a really nice time. Everything is in easy reach - seaside, coastal walks, woodland walks. After busy day coming back to tranquility of the cottage and it is a bliss to soak tired feet in the stream. Thank you our host Nicola for looking after us.

The cottage is well equipped and situated in a very quiet location. It is ideally suited for those wanting to go on long walks directly from the cottage with more variety a short drive away. As expected the cottage had many low doorways but generally the ceilings were high enough for tall quests and did not detract. It was clearly a former family hRead moreome and the furnishings and decor made us feel at home very quickly. We would certainly recommend the cottage to friends and would love to return. Hide

We visited over New Year and the cottage was warm and inviting with a Christmas tree and decorations. All the family had a very enjoyable time. The cottage was homely, most comfortable with plenty of space and all the kitchen equipment you would need. Although the wether was against us, we still really enjoyed our long walks knowing that on our retRead moreurn we would be able spend a -peasant evening in the cottage. Hide
