Surfers, seafarers and bookworms will be drawn to this terraced cottage in the pretty fishing village of Appledore. Set close to the beach, there’s a creative vibe too with narrow lanes, cobbled streets, artisan shops and galleries to potter on lazy afternoons. The annual Appledore Book Festival takes place in September each year too. Catch the seasonal ferry across to Instow or head to nearby Westward Ho! for a day at the beach or a round on the green at the Royal Devon Golf Course. Sleeping six guests and two dogs, the property is ideal for families with older children who love the beach life. There’s roadside parking nearby, though guests will be thrilled to find pubs, shops, eateries, and a museum within walking distance.
Inside, the accommodation which is offered over three floors has been renovated and updated to provide a contemporary seaside home. As you enter there is a light and airy dining room on your left with large bay window and brightly coloured dining chairs. Continue down the hallway and you reach a cosy lounge with Smart TV with Netflix and coal effect gas fire and the cupboards hold a variety of games and books. Doors lead through to the kitchen with wooden worksurface and stylish streamlined units incorporating an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The cottage style staircase leads up to one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Step down into the stylish bathroom providing a shower over bath and WC. A further staircase leads you up to a large attic bedroom within the eaves of the house (restricted headroom in places) Velux window and a double bed. This large room has a seating area ideal for quiet reading.
Outside there is a small and private courtyard to the rear of the property with steps leading up to a decked area and further garden furniture and BBQ. Outside the hot shower allows for surfers to wash wet suits or pet owners to wash muddy paws. Parking is roadside nearby or in the various public car parks close by.
