Sitting in one of North Devon’s most desirable villages, nestling into the beautiful countryside, this enchanting cottage offers peace and privacy. Enjoy river views from the patio at the front of the house or wander the extensive, hilly rear garden where you will be rewarded with superb views across the valley. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the traffic-free Tarka Trail (a former railway line) where you can also hire bikes. Enjoy a round of golf at the nearby 9-hole at Torrington (3 miles) or the sandy beaches at Westward Ho! tourist hotspot (10 miles). The fishing villages at Clovelly and Appledore are worth a visit, both within 20 miles, as well as RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal at Great Torrington, within 4 miles. Or just stroll to the traditional village pub for a hearty meal.
This delightful property is accessed via the front garden and up the path before three steps in lead to the front stable door. Enter the property directly into the spacious lounge with gas log effect fire, low ceilings, comfy seating and smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen/diner follows on and has everything you need including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and slimline dishwasher, making cooking easy. There is a small dining table with two chairs and two additional fold-up chairs located in the cupboard under the stairs if needed. There is a useful utility room to the rear with a sink and there is also access to the rear garden from here through a covered walkway, ideal for kicking off boots and coats after a country walk. Finishing the downstairs is a shower room and WC. Head upstairs via cottage-style stairs to the two bedrooms, one of which is a super-king-size with plenty of storage, TV and views over the front garden to the river beyond. The second room has a king-size bed and again plenty of storage and river views. The bathroom completes the accommodation and is situated in the eaves of the roof, therefore it has restricted height in places, but there is a bath and WC.
Stepping outside, you can enjoy views from the patio area just outside the front of the property where there is a garden table and chairs or on the lawn below which is an idyllic spot to watch the world go by and enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink. There are also two platforms in the steep rear garden, one lower down under the trees which has two steamer chairs on it, and a larger one higher up which has a garden table and chairs and commanding views across the valley. There’s off-road parking for two cars in the private layby at the bottom of the garden.
