With views across to Dartmoor, this single-storey lodge that’s on a leisure complex with onsite activities would be perfect for family and friends.

Set in beautiful countryside with stunning walks and onsite activities including a well-stocked fishing lake and indoor swimming pool, which is open between Monday 20th March 2023 and Saturday 2nd September 2023,you can spend the day on-site. A drive out to Dartmoor is only 15 miles away and discover the magical moorlands. If you are looking for the beach the seaside Cornish town of Bude is only 18 miles away with its choice of sandy golden beaches and its unique tidal pool and a plethora of shops cafes and restaurants not forgetting the stunning coastal path. Enjoy a day out at RHS Rosemoor only 10 miles away and great for all the family with many different events all year round. Onsite is a gate that leads straight on to the Ruby Trail. The rural beauty and tranquillity of Ruby Country makes it an ideal place to explore on foot. There are many possible routes to follow through breathe taking scenery, with ever changing wildlife, the fresh air and walks will be certain to please your four legged friends too! And after a day of exploring why not book your self into the nearby Gotland Gin HQ outside bar, to sample some of their unique Gin made onsite on their small holding, very popular with the locals and you will find it stocked in many local pubs in the area.

As you step onto the private balcony you will access the lodge through the door which leads you into the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge offers a large comfy sofa where you can relax after a days fishing and watch a favourite movie on the Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, a fridge with an ice compartment and a microwave. There is no washing machine in the property but there is an on-site laundry room available. There are two bedrooms one is a king size room and there is also a twin room. The family bathroom has a lovely walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, there is an enclosed decked patio area with patio furniture where you can sit and relax with a morning coffee and plan your day's adventure. Just a short walk down to the fishing lake which also has an area where you can BBQ whilst the children are having fun in the children’s play area.

  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Great location with good amenities on site, especially the swimming pool and direct access to the Ruby Way. Facilities in the cottage were good too.

Absolutely enjoyed the stay. Cottage well designed, equipped and clean. Some nice, personal touches always put you in a good mood. Swimming pool was a hit with kids during bad weather. Efficient heating was also great to dry towels and wet clothes. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely time. It did help that the weather was on our side and we did`nt need our rain coats. Found the accomidation to be well looked after and contained everything we needed.

Everything provided down to a cream tea on arrival and fab pool which was great for children as it rained unseasonably for most of the time. The bbq area could do with a spruce up, its very basic. Anglers would enjoy as would walkers. So glad we had a comfortable well equipped cottage, owner was superb as was the local staff who look after number 3Read more. Thanks so much. Lovely accommodation, very clean with all the equipment you could think of. Great for our dog, with lovely walks. The pool is fantastic and pretty much had it most days to ourselves. Fishing pond was absolutely brimming. A few good local pubs, and the food and service at the Devil Stone Pub in Shebbear highly recommended. We had a lovely stay at the Lake Retreat nr Hatherleigh. It was a lovely base to explore the area and had everything we need for a great week away. It was clean and well kept. Brilliant shared pool which we always had by ourselves. It was all very peaceful.

Lovely compact lodge with a large fenced deck, set in a quiet site with a pond stocked with rudd, common carp and mirror carp. There is also an indoor pool which was great. The area is great as a base out to other parts of Devon and Cornwall . The owners of the lodge also left a welcome devonshire tea, which was a lovely gesture. I would definitelyRead more recommend. Cosy, warm & clean accommodation. Our teenage daughter loved the pool & was in there most days. Very quiet & secluded area, great for dog walking & local pub was 2 miles away, they did great food. I would highly recommend.

A lovely lodge in a pleasent area. In easy reach of great locations. We loved Bude and Castle Drogo. The facilities were good. The swimming pool is great.

The cottage was very nice and having a pool was very beneficial. The owner was really great, we left an item behind which was very important to my daughter, she sent it to us in the post. Fantastic service!

Lovely place to stay, nice and quiet with lovely views. Pool was great and I think my son went twice every day ! Paul the caretaker is a lovely chap and will do what he can to help.you out ! Thoroughly recommend the beach ride at the stables located at Westward Ho, amazing experience

Our family had a lovely stay at the Lake Retreat. The lodge is excellently equipped and has great views towards Dartmoor. Use of the indoor pool was fantastic and the local area is beautiful. We would love to stay again in the future!
