This well-presented cottage has been lovingly decorated, making it a perfect getaway for couples and families looking for a country retreat a short drive from the coast.
Well known for its beautifully thatched roofs and quaint cob cottages, the village of Otterton is nestled in the idyllic Otter Valley and boasts one of the oldest working water mills in the country. Otterton Mill is a café/restaurant with a gift shop selling local art and crafts, and a farm shop with local produce and freshly baked bread and pastries – the perfect spot for coffee and only a few yards from your front door. Meet the locals in the traditional pub or share a moment or two with new friends in the well-stocked community-run shop which is open 7 days a week. In less than a mile you can Join the Jurassic Coast and South West Coastal Path, stunning all year round for the family and your four-legged friend. The coastal towns of Sidmouth and Exmouth are both within 7 miles and Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is only 2 miles away with 64 acres of gardens and woodland to explore, and with indoor and outdoor play areas, it offers something for all ages. The vast, pebbly beach of Budleigh Salterton is only minutes away in the car, alternatively, put your walking boots on, leave the car behind and stroll alongside the river Otter to reach the sea. Exeter city is only 12 miles away offering various bars, restaurants and great shopping days out.
After parking the car, enter the pretty semi-detached cottage via the back door and step into the wonderful kitchen. It’s a great space to prepare a light lunch or cook up a hearty dinner, complete with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso Coffee Machine and washing machine. The bathroom is off the kitchen, offering a bath with a hand-held shower and WC. Get together in the spacious dining room, which overlooks the lovely main street of Otterton and has a dining table and wood burning stove. Next door is the cosy lounge – with its comfortable seating and Smart TV, it really is the perfect spot for snuggling up and watching your favourite programmes. Off this room is the first of three bedrooms: a handy twin with lots of natural light. Up the traditional cottage stairs and to the left is the master bedroom with its fabulous super-king-size bed, plenty of floor space and natural light that floods the room. It’s a great space to enjoy either breakfast in bed or just a lazy morning. Next door is the twin zip-and-link bedroom (can be made up as a super-king-size bed on request) again with views over the village below. At the other end of the landing, you will find the main shower room which offers a stylish double shower and WC.
Out through the back door is a lovely south-facing gravelled area, providing private off-road parking for one large car and with access to a small, grassed area beyond the parking bay. Additional roadside parking is subject to availability.
