This modern, two storey retreat surrounded by greenery near the North Devon coastline is perfect for families and their two travelling pups. Located in the centre of the pretty village of Bishops Tawton, guests are spoiled with a wide range of walking and cycling trails nearby, including the Tarka Trail which offers 180 miles of off-road cycling, with tearooms and pubs along the way. Beyond the host village, take a trip to the picturesque village of Instow (10 miles), well-known for its attractive and dog-friendly estuary beach and waterfront, with cafes, pubs and restaurants awaiting. In the summer months, hop on the pedestrian boat ferry across to Appledore and stroll around its pretty cobbled streets and quayside.

Stepping into this airy and welcoming retreat next door to the owners home with an upside-down layout, you will immediately feel at home thanks to the thoughtful stylings and furnishings throughout. Enter into the open-plan living space made up of the lounge, kitchen and dining area that floods with natural light and offers views of the rolling hills around. The lounge area has all you need to relax after a day spent outdoors, with comfortable sofas and a wood burner for the pups to snooze next to as you watch your favourite shows on the TV. The well-equipped kitchen offers all the essentials to cook up delights for the rest of the family, which can be enjoyed from the spacious breakfast bar that sits under a skylight. Completing this floor are the French doors in the kitchen area that lead through to a wonderful balcony with comfy seating for all and stunning views across the Taw Valley – the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or evening tipple. At the end of the evening, head downstairs to find the property’s two bedrooms; a king-size room with an en-suite shower room and Freeview TV, plus a twin room with another en-suite shower room – this room can be converted into a super-king-size on request.

Step out through the rear of the ground floor to find some charming and enclosed outside space for all to enjoy. Let the dogs and little ones play safely thanks to the fenced astro turf area, while older guests relax in the outdoor seating with a glass of bubbly in hand.

Beautiful upside cottage with different terraces and balcony to enjoy the countryside and river view. Really well equipped, everything you need. Exceptionally clean an beautifully decorated. The owners Dave and Julie are brilliant hosts and so helpful.

Had a lovely holiday at Bashers Rest. Every requirement was catered for. Lovely views from the terrace. The accommodation was excellent and we really appreciated having the 2 en-suites. The owners who are next door were very helpful and friendly.

We had a wonderful time the property is immaculate and has plenty of areas to relax with a comfortable sofa and leather chairs inside and two decking areas one upstairs and a larger area downstairs in which is enclosed and meant our little doge were free to roam. There is a great kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, oven and induction hob and Read morea very large fridge freezer. All the things you need are there and I will definitely be back if staying this way again. Hide

In a really convenient location for all local amenities and within easy reach of loads of places to visit. Cottage is brilliantly thought out and equipped for a comfortable holiday stay . Top marks from me!

This was our first time away with our two dogs and we had a fantastic stay at the Bashers Rest. The location is perfect for several fantastic beaches that the dogs loved, only a short drive away. The owners have created a superb holiday cottage with everything we could have wanted for our stay. The cottage has a fresh "new" feel and was scrupulouslRead morey clean. What a lovely, clean and unique property. We really enjoyed our stay. They thought of everything. Its so nice to have a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher. Highly recommend staying here.
