Downstairs, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a fantastic entertaining area with calming neutral decor, wooden flooring and plenty of space. Prepare romantic meals for two in the contemporary kitchen area before enjoying them at the table nearby or dining al fresco in the decked area outside, decorated with colourful baskets and pots. At the end of a long day, the large L-shaped leather sofa is the perfect place to relax, unwind and plan the next day’s activities.

Located in the picturesque village of Chardstock, this property sits between the charming market towns of Chard in Somerset and Axminster in Devon, both perfect for stocking up on supplies or browsing their range of independent boutiques. Set out on foot to explore the surrounding farmland and woodland, soak up some local history at Forde Abbey (5 miles), watch the wildlife at Axe Valley Bird and Animal Park (6 miles) or try your hand at fossil hunting at Lyme Regis.

The cottage was situated in a small village with a pub and post office come general shop, the main town was only a 10 min drive away and there was a couple of other good pubs for food too. It was an ideal spot to explore Dorset, Devon and Somerset. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well appointed. The owners were lovely.

This small cottage is a superb example of a conversion.everything in it is obviously planned for your comfort and enjoyment of the Village that it is in.Easy clean floors,a complete and fully equipped kitchen ,a bed that is so comfortable that you want to stay in it and a very nice large bathroom to finish off.There is ample offroad parking as wellRead more. We had a wonderful 1st family holiday with out 5 month old baby and Rob and Sara could not have been more welcoming or accomodating. We would highly recommend Pound Retreat as a comfortable base for exploring the area!

A lovely cottage that is very well resourced which is situated in the beautiful little village of Chardstock. Thank you very much to the owners Sara & Rob for their warm welcome plus the cream tea which was delicious & the beautiful bunch of roses.

Beautiful and spacious house which is located perfectly in the peaceful countryside but close enough to explore the busy coastline of Devon and Dorset. Very dog friendly. Even got to hang out with the local dog walkers who were happy to advise on best routes.

Charming and comfortable. Sofa very comfortable, nearby pub was great. Outside space isn't huge, but big enough. Owners line next door and are very helpful. For did owners I'd say it's worth timing the fur between dogs yours as it's laminate flooring
